Cheap Chinese boards being made with salvaged hardware from different chipsets is nothing new. X58 boards use P55 chipsets (hence two DIMMs instead of three or six), X79 single-socket boards almost always use B75, maybe Z75 or Z77 if you're lucky. Anything and everything LGA 1150 is probably using a bastardized H81. Just one more reason to avoid the cheap Chinese no-name garbage boards on AliExpress, eBay, Taobao, whatever, and all the more reason for otherwise solid to sterling channels like Tech YES City and Phil's Computer Lab to stop using them.

Meh, they are cheap and work well enough. What's wrong with that? Just buy knowing that there is no support if something goes wrong. My wife's machine is a taobao diy based on one of these Frankenstein boards, and it's been working well for over 2 years. Not bad for 2000 rmb.
