2 Seagate HDD's; Which is Which?

G4mingArt1st

On Amazon, you can see these 2

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B075XPBD5B/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=AEDYXTHYD8DT7&psc=1

And

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07J351T2V/ref=ox_sc_act_image_4?smid=A10XTVRAJRWPGO&psc=1

Honestly, they look the same

But, 1 has English language and the other, Chinese.

Should I go with the English one with a 3rd-Party seller? Or go with the Chinese sold by Seagate?

EDIT: THIS IS U.S. Based purchase

Edit 2: looking to see which model to get.

3rd-Party, with English pictures OR Seagate seller with Chinese pictures.

I'm looking for the difference between the two.

If the the 0008 version is the updated version.

Which might be, but I don't want a knock-off/counterfeit.

Every spec sheet includes several models, but both are included. There doesn't seem to be any technical difference between them. Looks just like some sort of revision, there might be some difference in firmware which is not mentioned here. I could check the Seagate firmware page, but it requires serial number of the actual drive to show firmware and that's something we don't have...

The difference between the drives is a minor revision. Effectively the same drive, same performance. Use whatever one is cheapest.

As far as what has changed between the two it is hard to know for sure. Could be anywhere from a firmware revision to tweak in the casing.

Basically this is summarized in the following: "Revision number"

ST12000VN0007 (Rev. D Gen 2 - December 2017) :https://www.seagate.com/www-content/product-content/ironwolf/en-us/docs/100818527d.pdf

ST12000VN0008 (Rev. C Gen 2 - June 2018) :https://www.seagate.com/www-content/product-content/ironwolf/en-us/docs/100835908c.pdf

Manufacturers will revisit their products from time to time and changes can be made, those changes could be only the labeling or packaging of the product and, in some other cases, the changes are bigger than that, materials, design more attractive, etc... What I recommend to people who encounter this situation is that they use the newest revision, however in some cases there are people who are rather looking for a specific revision for different reasons but to tell the truth the changes are not so big enough to pay so much attention to one revision or the other, the model remains for NAS yet and it is ready for battle.
