I'm gonna blame the Japanese, considering they were the pioneers of emojis and seeing as it doesn't bear the same connotation as it does in the western world. It's another finger and seeing as we have a thumbs up, index finger up, etc. why not a middle finger up?

 

Real question though, why do we have fake David Bowie and female fake David Bowie??? What are you up to Samsung?!?
