Nope, we just previously missed an error in that video :P so we need to fix that before posting tomorrow. Luckily we had a back-up ready.

Yeah, I feel like this forum (at least the older members) would respect their privacy and tell you guys about the error, but I guarantee that when it would go live on YouTube, Linus's phone would be blowing up with calls from kids asking for free computers.

I think the R5 1600AF deserved a mention at 85$.

2666 or maybe 2800 should be a reasonable memory speed. there is plenty of cheap 2666 sticks

That single dimm stick is really painful to see.

Ryzen is known to benefit from dual-channel on the higher-end so it seems crazy to me they didn't think that it would also be a big deal on the low-end...

And 2x4gig costs basically the same as 1x8gig anyway so it's not a cost thing.

it's an issue if you go with a320 board (max 2 sticks) or a matx board with 2 slots.

but i agree test should be dual channel, because that's what majority of users end up with (eventually) and bandwidth matters with integrated graphics

I guess they were lazy or didn't feel like buying 2 4 gb sticks if they didn't have some in stock.

and no... it's no 300$ pc. maybe canadian dollars

A case with power supply is 30-40$, a mb is 60$, a cpu 50$, ram is 30$, a 256 gb ssd is 20-30$ ... so around 220-250$

This video was pretty poorly done IMO. What was the point of having the Intel system in it at all? You showed it for 1 test, and then completely ignored it.
I was expecting to see gaming match ups with that as well, to see how it did. However, instead, it wasn't touched again. The whole Intel bit should have been left out.

This video is straight shit. I can assure you that single channel memory is substantially worse for gaming, especially on Ryzen (half the FPS in some cases). I'm not sure why they had the Intel chip in the beginning, it never saw the light of day afterwards. Waste of time.

P.S. Take Alex out of any and all videos. I've yet to see a video he's been in that was done well, his knowledge is quite lacking. I'll probably get shit for this, but I said what I said.

I'm not getting the point of this video... So, the 3000G a crappy 2 core 4 thread CPU is $50. The verdict of the video should be, if you're building a budget system, you should be looking at Ryzen 5 1600 that goes for only $30 more ($80) and is a proper 6 core CPU with 12 threads. Sure clock is a bit on the lower side, but is still a 6c/12t CPU that will rip through games without much problems. I've used MicroCenter prices coz JayzTwoCents often mentions it, NewEgg seems to have it for $100. Still, doubling the price from $50 to $100 goes from 2c/4t @ 3.5GHz to 6c/12t @ up to 3.6. 100% price jump for 300% more cores. Going past this point seems to lose its value appeal because you're increasing price, but not gaining any serious core counts or clocks. Like, 2700X costs over 3x more, but only gives you 2c/4t more and some clock boost. Totally not worth it if you're on a budget.

GTX 1650 Super seems to be the only meaningful option at the lower end. Something like RX 570 is just $20 less and is probably slower anyway, not to mention older.

So, get the Ryzen 5 1600 for $80-100 and you're set for proper gaming sessions with that GTX 1650 Super. This 3000G only has value if you're sticking it in a PC as CPU and GPU combo and it'll be running basic multimedia and games from GOG. Old legendary games are fun and they'll run great even on that 3000G. It'll cost you $50. And that's the end cost of CPU and GPU.

Then there is still the Ryzen 5 2400G. 4c/8t CPU that boosts up to 3.9GHz with VEGA 11 graphics for $130-160. It can actually run relatively new games really well at 720p...

There are options even at very low end that are very much viable. And that 2400G, even if you'll at some point have to buy a graphic card, it'll still be viable. Where 3000G just isn't.

@dizmo I assumed he meant $300 without dedicated graphics.

Why would you buy 3000g if you end up using dedicated graphics?

You can actually buy Ryzen 1200 for 67$ on Amazon and you can probably overclock it to ~3.8 ghz on all 4 cores. Amazon.com: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler (YD1200BBAEBOX): Computers & Accessories

You can buy Ryzen 1400 (4core/8threads) on eBay for around the same price (US sellers).

The 1200 is about 10-20% more powerful than 3000g at stock frequencies, 1400 is about 50% faster)

here's 340$ with all NEW components..

You can get used RX 470 or 570 for 75$+ .... you may get cheaper psu if you go to evga store if you're in us. 300$ is doable.

You can even have the system in a cardboard box for a few weeks and save 20$ on a case.

Came here to say this. The 1600 AF is a beast at 85 dollars if you're going to be using discrete graphics.
