Will Gigabyte's titan ridge card work on others trx40 mobo?

Hi!

I'm trying to find if Gigabyte's titan ridge thunderbolt card would work with any trx40 motherboard?

It comes with the trx40 designare from gigabyte and I would really like to know if it would work with other mobos, or if it's locked to gigabyte's for some reason!

Thank you :)

Hello,

It should work with any motherboard that supports PCIe 3.0 x4 like any GPU will work on any motherboards.

The GC-TITAN RIDGE is compatible with GIGABYTE motherboards of that include a Thunderbolt™ header

Scroll down and you will see a list of specifically compatible boards, which may not be an exhaustive list (so new boards may work too).

As far as I can see, your board needs to have a Thunderbolt header too. I'm not even sure if this card will exclusively work with Gigabyte boards.

The TRX40 Designare is the only TRX40 board with a Thunderbolt header. Some early samples of the TRX40 Aorus Xtreme had the header but seems like most generally available boards are missing it. However the upcoming 1.1 releases of a bunch of X570 boards will have the header according to the compatibility list minibois shared, so I’d bet future TRX40 board revisions will too.

Careful. This isn't accurate.

How so?

Because the board needs to support thunderbolt. The Titan Ridge card relies on the board having a TB header which not all TRX40 boards have. So simply slotting the card in will not get you there.

Just to add, Wendell over at Level1techs has confirmed that the Designare TRX40 has a decent TB3 solution. With the Titan Ridge AIC.

Sorry, what I forgot to mention is that in the video, he mentions that the Gigabyte Titan Ridge AIC works with the Aorus Master.

The TRX40 Aorus Xtreme manual lists the THB_C header. This guy also says it works: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?179824-Thunderbolt-3-AMD
