Ryzen 3600 or i5 9600K?

I will be using it for gaming only.

Ryzen 3600, because with the money you'll save on the cooler you can purchase a better graphics card.

Hardly besides you're locking yourself to 6c/6t which is no longer optimal even for gaming rigs since demanding triple A like AC Odyssey already manages to max it out causing performance issues like worse 1% and 0.1% lows.

 

The R5 3600 is a superior processor to the i5 9600K, if you want Intel and actual "faster" gaming performance you need to go for the i7 9700K to secure those two extra cores but that processor is too pricey and in a bad place on the market today value wise if you do anything other than gaming.

The KF varient i5 is as expensive as the 3600 whilst offering superior frames.

In fact with this information, i will buy intel and not AMD, performance is all i care about. However what do you think on the motherboard?

I only want to play games. AMD had and may have in future progress security flaws also, still not negating superior FPS in gaming.

I want a CPU now, not in the future. The same argument has been said over time millenia with CPU's and most of all, those words almost always turned out wrong, FX series to speak of here, Ryzen is excellent but the 3600 for gaming is inferior overall.

If you don't like burning money, then a 3700x and a 5700xt are very good together, providing you with excellent 1440p performance, multitasking competency, and room for lateral growth.

The only reason I mentioned security flaws is that Intel's ones are serious, and requires costly mitigation methods (as drastic as disabling SMT).

AMD has security flaws too, but their ones don't impact performance.

Yes i am not buying a 2080Ti, money is not much of an object, but i am not stupid and i do not need a 9900KS either.

 

Can someone here without bias please actually give me information? so far the 9600K is beating the 3600, yet all i am getting is why i should go for the AMD CPU at the same price offering me less performance. Logically this does not work in my mind.

100% agree. Skip anything without SMT/HT and don't buy the bare minimum.

I am on a Core i5 Ivy Bridge and even that copes with the majority of work loads with a crappy 280x, how a 6 core is the minimum is kind of beyond me.

It won't be faster with a 5700xt at 1440p. Not meaningfully faster, and the 9600k lacks SMT so doing anything else at the same time (discord, chrome, YouTube, etc) will negativity affect it vs the 3700x.

1080P 144hz is my target, the single core performance advantage of the intel is minimal but it is there.

 

I don't play games and browse porn hub at the same time, i do things one at a time. SMT is meaningless to me, i don't even create content.

Literally no outlet has recommended a 9600K over a 3600 or anything else for the matter. I don't know what argument you're bringing here, the 3600 is the overall better option now and in the future.
