Is there a benefit to SLI a RX5700xt and a 1060 6GB?

IndioBravo

Hi everyone, I just upgraded from a 1060 6GB to a RX5700xt, I am currently trying to sell my 1060 6GB but as the title says, I was wondering if there will be a benefit from using those 2 together, or am I just better off selling it?

Thanks for your time.

IF you were using a programm that greatly benefits from CUDA acceleration then you should keep it and run it along side. If you are not then sell it.

As far as using them for gaming it won't happen, but you could use the 1060 if you wanted to mess around with a hackintosh or use it for Cuda acceleration or NVenc for transcoding. It also never hurts to have an extra gpu on hand for troubleshooting or if your current gpu would ever need RMA'd

If you have the power supply pins and motherboard to run both, you could play around with virtualization transcoding/encoding as was previously mentioned. Otherwise you can just sell your 1060.

Ok so no benefit to gaming. I have no idea what transcoding/encoding is. But I guess I´ll keep it untill my new GPU is fully stable and if I have a chance I´ll sell it.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Ya thats not bad idea, i usually find after 2 week to 1 month its very unlikely any issues will appear, if a card is going to crap out usually happens in first few days if you do some basic stress testing (even just leaving valley/heaven benchmark running in backround).  If you have warranty on rx5700 feel free to stress test the heck out of it in that time frame, you don't want a minor issue turning into a greater one.

Which RX 5700 is it? Reference?

I have NewEgg warranty, but the RMA process would be a pain because I shipped it from NewEgg to Miami and then from Miami to Latin America haha.

Nevertheless, I would def make some stress tests, I´m kind of a freak with it.

It is a Sapphire Pulse RX5700xt 8gb dual fan
