I'm now a believer of reinstalling Windows after motherboard and CPU change

So I just finished my upgrade and platform switch from my R3 1200 to the i3-9100f earlier today, was so frustrated that my ingame FPS actually worsened after the switch, decided to reinstall Windows even though I was cynical about it,never thought it would actually do anything (or at least very little)

MY FPS DOUBLED LOL

I've been in the computer repair/service industry for several years now and whenever doing a platform upgrade I recommend doing a fresh install. It can cause all sorts of problems if you don't, mainly due to incompatible drivers and software.

Usually you can re-use your Windows install when the hardware change is minimal say like going from an i3 8100 to an i5 9600K based system.

On your case you changed teams entirely, from Intel to AMD you'll be having different drivers and registry entries and all for pretty much all of your hardware so you do open a lot of room for potential issues.

I had issues with my internet not connecting when I switched from the 8700k to the 3950x, so I totally get what you mean. It took me like 5 hours of motherboard driver troubleshooting before I fixed it. A windows reinstall probably would have been easier.

I have issues with my windows for maybe 2 years, and even after I changed mobo+cpu, I STILL havent reinstalled windows. And yes, the problem persists.

I know what I should do, but its so easy to not do it...

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

It's great to hear that clean install works. But is even better to know what to do when there is problem with old drivers and settings. I never had situation when I need to install Windows again after hardware change, but I'm a person who like to use tools. They're free. :)
