Hello, I built my first workstation threadripper yesterday and was working fine, today i had an extra rgb cable hanging from my coolermaster 360 aio tr4 edition so i accidentally without understanding, insterted the extra 4 pin rgb connector on my asus motherboard 4 pin rgb header, and after i turned it on suddenly there was smoke and burned, i instantly turned off my PC and removed the cable from the motherboard but there was a small damage already done on the 4 pin header on the motherboard.

After a few minutes I turned it on and it gave post error that my cpu fan header wasn't in correctly, and sent me to bios, everything seemed normal, after extining bios it booted to windows normally and the cpu temps were 20-35c as normal as if nothing happened.

Any suggestions? I don't know how to check if there's a deeper issue. I shut down the pc after that normally. It was stupid of me to do this. But can someone give insight how to check?

depending on how new it is you might want to rma it, just in case it ends up causing a problem later on because it isn't going to work by calling and mentioning the burnt pin from 8 months ago.

Anything i've written between the * and * is not meant to be taken seriously.

keep in mind that helping with problems is hard if you aren't specific and detailed.

i'm also not a professional, (yet) so make sure to personally verify important information as i could be wrong.
