Anyone still using a GTX 480? Or older?

Just curious about modern day performance and workarounds. Possibly also with a Sandy Bridge or older CPU?

i used a 2600k and a gtx 580 til early last year (?), some games were unplayable due to cpu bottlenecks, (ubisoft games, mhw, kingdom come), fermi cards also didn't have any boost so was always using too much power :( and it's a 1050 ti ~ in terms of performance.

Not older but due to being further down the performance stack I think it's relevant: I have a 2630QM and a 6770m (think ~GT 555m) in the laptop that I'm still using.  For everyday tasks it's perfectly sufficient, which shouldn't come as a surprise.  As for gaming, of course that level of performance can't measure up to what you'd get in even a budget system these days, but if you're smart with what games you choose to play it works perfectly fine and delivers a good experience.  Two things that I've always said are 1) when picking games for lesser hardware, pick something older rather than trying to turn down settings on something newer, and 2) have reasonable expectations.  These will help guide you to having a good experience and avoid suffering.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

No I understand, I've got a 7700HQ / 1060 laptop (specs in sig). I've just always been fascinated by how decade-old hardware can still play some modern games.

CPU bottlenecks? Interesting, so the GPU could hold up somewhat.

I just saw this -
