why even Intel when you're on a budget

 

they are both poor for more than an i5

If you’d bought your cpu, go with the asus prime, I see 2mmore capacitors which will add like 0.0005% more performance in OCing

 

if you haven’t bought your cpu yet, go with amd, they have better value motherboards and cpu at this time in the low end.

But the new intel cpu are going to need another motherboard. They confirmed the z470 motherboards for the 10900k already. So why buy a motherboard for a cpu now that you cannot use in the future?

Yup the upgrade makes no sense. Would cost a lot for a small upgrade to an already good system, and it's all into a dead platform.

A b450 + r7-2700x combo should run you about $250, and with a bios update, you can enable ryzen 3000 support, so when ryzen 4000 comes out, and if b450 doesn’t support ryzen 4000, then you can snag a discounted 3000 cpu and reap a ton of cost savings. If you’re looking for game performance, 95% of that comes from the gpu, so look for a better gpu instead of the most over the top cpu.

The 1650 is an adequate gpu for gaming, but are you aiming for 1440p? 144hz? Ultra settings? 1650 is not going to do that. The recommendation is always to spend the most you can, because future proofing is a lie, but you want the most you can get now.

with the 5700 xt, you’ll be able to play a lot of games at 1080p 144hz ultra, or maybe even 1440p 60hz high. Especially paired with the 2700x you should hit around 120-144hz in cpu intense esports titles. These are stuff you know for yourself. 
The only information I have is that you want to game, please give me both your budget and goal, and I’ll try to steer you in the right direction.

can you get a Gigabyte Z390 UD?, its basically the only budget Z390 worth even trying to OC with a i7 or i9

Sort by prices looking for "Ryzen 3000 Ready" boards on retailer of your choice website, see what you can find that references well against this list

Stuff like MSI Tomahawk MAX, MSI Mortar MAX, ASRock B450m Pro4, ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4, ASUS Strix b450/x470, stuff atleast rated for 100A on that list are decent minimum to getting into AM4, support stock 12 core no problem and overclocked the 8 core parts with those, no problem. 

if you want something that will eventually be overclockable for 16 core part on a budget honestly its best to just go to x570 and go with Asus Prime X570-P as all the b350-x470 boards as capable as it cost more, atleast in NA and so far as im aware.

My goal is to play ultra setting on pretty much every game at 60 fps plus
