rx 5500 xt = gtx 1080?

I can't find any comparisons but I did found rumors saying that the new rx 5500 xt 8gb is equal to the 1080? Is that true?

It's not, the RX 5500XT lands between the RX 580 and the RX 590.

About a 1060 6GB or so. Nowhere close to a 1080.

It's between a GTX 1650 Super and a GTX 1660.

As @Princess Luna already stated, yes. I chose a 1060 6GB because they were comparing it to a GTX 1080, said they didn't know much other than the GTX lines, and from that I assume they are most familiar with specifically the Pascal GTX cards. 

If the OP knows much about the Turing GTX cards then they can be a useful metric. 

 

EDIT: @zindan that's the 5700, it's on par with a 1080 AFAIK, might be slightly faster. The 5700 XT lands between that and a 1080 Ti, or in current gen terms, it's just behind a 2070 Super.

Do note though, if you want a 5700 or 5700XT the Reference/blower cooler ones are pretty bad. You want a proper AIB card, HardwareUnboxed has excellent reviews for pretty much every single AIB model released so far, so if you find one you like you can just double check with their review to make sure it's solid.
