I have a MSI-7525 mobo and at first I was just going to get a new processor , some ram and a graphics card but there were so many limitations. It doesn't support quad-core CPU's , it only supports up to 4gb of ram (with only 3.24 gb's usable) , and the graphic's card I don't even want to get started on.

So I was wondering if someone knew a mobo with the same components but I don't want an LGA775 Socket and it would be nice if I could keep the DDR2 or DDR3 but with 4 slots instead of 2.

Anything with DDR 2/DDR 3 is quite old and won't support modern CPUs, you need DDR 4 for those.

It doesn't have to be a modern CPU anything that's a quad core will work

What's your use case, is this for retro-gaming or do you just want any new PC?

Your best bet if you specifically need a system with DDR 2/DDR 3 would probably be ebay or any other market that sells used systems.

It's always wise to choose a motherboard together with the other components, especially including the CPU.

Did you have an idea what to choose for that already?

You could look into getting a second hand LGA 1150 board and a 4th gen i5/i7 or whatever.

Or you could of course look into getting a fully new mobo+CPU+RAM set too, as at some point that may just buy a bit more money for better performance.

But kind of budget did you have in mind and what are you going to do with this PC? What is the rest of your build like now?

DDR2 stuff just isn't viable anymore nowadays.

So if you don't want to be on LGA 775, what do you want to be on? AMD? Intel? what else do you need from it?

Intel I'm not really a fan of amd and you know what actually an LGA775 would be fine I just need a mobo that supports quad core cpu's and at least 8gb of ram

The best CPUs available for DDR3 are 4th gen Intel, so LGA 1150 will be what you're looking for. Something like an i5 4450 to start with, in an H81, B85, or H87 board will do nicely. Z87/97 boards are pretty pricey so only consider if you're an OC enthusiast

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I just need a new PC but I also like to play games now and then so pretty much both I guess

I wouldn't recommend LGA 775. x58/1366 still has some decent performance and quad and hexa cores

X58 unfortunately can be harder to get into just with motherboard price, much better if you're an overclock enthusiast but a cheao Xeon in a cheap 115x board ends up with better performance for less

Unless you go the bank server board route, which is a fun experiment but can be tougher

If it's DDR3, get the cheapest H81 board you can find and a Xeon E3-1231 V3 for ~$70 on eBay.

If it's DDR2, don't bother. Most later DDR2 boards support quads, but working ones with 4 slots tend to be either in bad shape or drastically overpriced for what they are. DDR3 is cheap. Upgrade to the H81/Xeon route with 8GB of it (~$20).

X79/LGA2011 is much better, will outperform 1st/2nd gen Ryzens once OCed. Has the same issue as X58 though, good motherboards are usually really damn expensive, often more than current gen brand new boards.

A few years back, when quads w/HT were still the high end, X58 made a lot of sense. Now, with hexa-cores being midrange and B350/B450 boards being so cheap, X58 no longer makes sense as anything more than a niche enthusiast platform. The prices on motherboards haven't fallen enough to justify the purchase.

One could make the argument that X79 is a worthy successor and in many ways it is. Problem is, a good X79 motherboard, even used, is going to be pricier than a B350/B450 board. The only options really competitive pricewise with Ryzen boards are shit-tier Chinese "X79" boards using a salvaged, bastardized B75 chipset and having a lifespan of about 32 days--just long enough for the eBay guarantee to expire--before either the VRMs or the chipset go bang.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

I'm using that currently, but if your looking to scrap something together, maybe old prebuilt parts, x58 is viable

From this thread, I would recommend an H81 board

Noooo.... not.... not really. X58 doesn't compete well at all until it's OCed and properly tuned, which prebuilt parts can't do. At stock it's fine for like home server stuff, but not really the best for gaming. It can do it, but it's not that fun.

It all depends how much you willing to spend on this parts and what you expecting. LGA1150 with 4th gen cpu will be best option if you want to keep ddr3, Z97 chipset and K series cpu if you want to OC and push it as far as possible, otherwise any H81,H87 or B85 with no K series cpu. If you want to go a bit lower than 3rd gen intel is not too bad option, LGA1155, same scenario here Z77 board if you want OC with K series cpu or B75, H77 if you dont want to OC. 3rd gen Intel is a bit cheaper option but still not too bad, I wouldn’t go lower than that (2nd gen)
