Can't get DS4 controller to work over bluetooth over a USB hub?

The title basically says it all.

My bluetooth dongle is 4.0 (6.8) and is working with my controller directly over front-io and rear-io.

But not when connected to my usb hub.

Every usb interface i am talking about is 3.0 or better. The front-io is usb 3.0, the rear-io is usb 3.0, the usb hub is usb 3.0 connected to a 3.1 rear-io port with a usb 3.0 cable.

The usb hub is powered externally via its own power brick.

Better yet, on my previous windows installation (win 8.1) it worked over the usb hub with exactly this controller, usb hub, cable, motherboard and even the exact same usb ports on the mobo and hub used.

This is suuper annoying. I now have a rear-io / front-io port permanently blocked by a bluetooth adapter. I've installed a relatively expensive and big 3.0 powered hub under my desk for such things.

How doesn't it work? Whenever i set my ds4 into pairing mode (hold share + peasant button for 3 seconds) (light bar flashing) and then click "add new devices" in the win10 bluetooth menu, it just won't find it.

It suuper rarely finds it but then it asks for a pin (should be 0000), but when entered it will just load for about 20 seconds and then cancels the connection.

In contrast to the dongle being connected directly to the front-io / rear-io it finds it right away without asking for a pin, working flawlessly.

I am using DS4Windows if that helps.
