Hi, I was wondering if I am able to display 1080p signal on a 1366x768 monitor that I have. I don't want it to be an SSAA thing, but rather 1080p squished into 768p. I know some older 1080p 32" TVs did that to make the price of them cheaper, so I was wondering if there was some technology that allows me to do that. I would be using it for recording so I don't have to scale 768p up to 1080p which, in my opinion, doesn't have great quality. Also, I have an NVIDIA GT 1030 GPU.

I don't think you can.

The monitor can never physically display 1080p because it lacks the pixels, but if I understand correctly, you just want the computer to have "the concept" of a 1080p monitor internally just so that can be recorded, even if it's downscaled when you see it?  That is possible with things like DSR/VSR.  I've done it before to run my 1080p screen at 4K, and screenshots taken like that are truly 4K, so it's far enough back in the pipeline to work.

 

You won't need any special hardware in the monitor.  AFAIK all the scaling is done by the GPU at the very last step, and in case I'm wrong on that, it should still be fine because it just needs to be able to take a 1080p input, which I would hope and guess that it could since that's so common.

While your monitor will continue to only display 768p it will be super sampled and scaled as if it's 1080p so if you take a SS of your desktop for instance it will be 1080p.

I don't see a DSR option anywhere in GeForce Experience or NVIDIA Control Panel. Perhaps it is a monitor issue, since on NVIDIA's website it doesn't talk about resolutions under 1080p and it says "on supported monitors" so maybe I am out of luck.

Nah, it's an Acer that has a "Signal Not supported" error that throws if it is anything larger than 768p 60Hz, so I need my monitor to think it is getting a 768p signal, but my computer is outputting a 1080p signal.
