First of all I'm Mike from the Philippines, we get a lot of used PC parts here and there.
I've been a Subscriber for the channel of linus for such a long time in doing my Tech job.
One day I'm actually checking on some budget processors with reasonable price range.
I stumbled upon the EL CHEAPO build of linus that i believed they used at the LTX Convention,
Also the follow up video of LowSpecGamer in improving the performance of the EL Cheapo Build.
So I decided to gather all the parts specified on the El Cheapo build, and so today I have my El Cheapo PH Edition.

By doing some good research in the PC market they say that you need a B350/450 motherboard in order to overclock the athlon 200ge but not on an Gigabyte A320m-s2h.
A lot of people says no you CAN'T overclock it on an A320m-s2h you need atleast a B350/450 but not on an A320m-s2h.
So I decided to have an experiment of my own, i updated my bios to the latest version F50 - AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4 11/28/2019 and started looking.

Windows 10 Enterprise OS

I checked on the Multiplier settings of CPU and RAM, yes they are unlocked.
Before overclocking I did a quick Cinebench R20 Benchmark with the stock settings.
I got 800CB with stock settings however when i overclocked the multiplier on the bios and ramp it up to 40 to make it 4ghz, task manager displays 3.99ghz
while cinebench is displaying 4ghz but CPUz is only displaying 3.2ghz even HWmonitor, furthermore my cinebench score with overclocked settings is also 800CB.

If anyone can clarify this it will be much appreciated.

My memory is that it’s not that you can’t so much as that you shouldn’t because the a series boards tend to have such cheap parts that things can overheat.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Thanks for the reply @Bombastinator

So is it really overclocked? even if cpuz and hwmonitor show its 3.2ghz while windows and cinebench displays it as 4ghz.

As an update i tried to draw heavy workload to stress it to 100% but its just using 3.1ghz but never goes above.

That’s not the only thing to worry about.  You may be heating up or over stressing the board. Possibly in places there are no temperature monitors.  Sometimes “can’t” means it’s not even possible, sometimes it means it’s just a really really bad idea.

going over the entire board with a laser temperature sensor to make sure there aren’t any danger spots would be a minimum for me personally.

@Bombastinator ill borrow an infrared thermal cam from a friend he is actually using that thermal cam for these kinds of things but I didn't know it's this crucial. maybe this is also the reason why a lot of people suggest atleast b350 or later boards.

I haven't spent to much of this but i managed to salvage used parts from closed Internet Cafe's that's why i got it on a budget. I'm planning to give this to my younger brother as a Christmas present that's why I'mm looking for options for overclock. Well I'm hoping that my friend still have that Infrared Thermal Cam.

once i get my hands on that Thermal cam, I'll check the board.
