I am thinking about getting a the ROG Throne Qi headset stand when I buy the headset again to protect it from damage. Do you think it is safe for me to buy the MMX gen2 again or do you think there is a good chance I will have problems and it will be defective again? I really like the MMX gen2 headset it's the most comfortable pair of headsets or headphones that I have ever worn! But, if there is a good chance I am going to have problems with it I would rather buy a different headset that is similar to these.

thats up to you beyers have always been built like tanks. and honestly like I said I think it's a cable issue and not a problem with the headset. my 990's with an attached cable have been through some abuse and work very well and Im surprised yours is broken but it has a replacable cable and that is what I personally supect is the issue

I can only hear side from the left side of my Beyerdynamic MMX 300 Gen 2 headset what caused this and what can I do? It was working great before last night then last night when I plugged it into my PC the right side was not working and I could only hear from the left side. I have tried a different pair of headphones and they work fine so I think it might be the headset. Please help! @rice guru Do you know what could be causing this or how to fix it?

What do you mean both sides there is only one cable to the headset and PC and no I haven’t tried on my phone or any other PC but, I have tried another pair of headphones on the same PC and that worked fine.

when I say both sides I mean into the pc and into the headphone. what I would first try is plug it into another source then try another cable and see if that works

I plugged it into my IPad Air 2 and I could still only hear sound from the left side of the headset.

The few things that can cause this is a broken cable , a broken connection, or a punctured driver.

I looked at the cable and the jack and they both look fine.

Only way to know is to plug in a new cable. Because the cable could have broke internally. If it's not the cable then it has to do something with the headphones actual Jack or internals

I think I am just going to return the headset and get another pair of the same headset. How do you store your headset when you are not using it? I currently put my headset on the top of my PC case since my PC is right next to me is that bad?

I let mine hang or put away if I want to take care of it. But I'm returning the last one cause I hate it

I have the very same problem on my MMX 300 gen2 that was bought half a year ago. Suddenly the right side is dead , e.g. when listening to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TWJaFD6R2s

I have tried with two different cables, and is experiencing the same problem. Have also tried on a different device, with the same problem. Another headset and the same cables (and device) is working fine.

So I agree with OP that this is not a cable problem, but possible an internal malfunction of some sort.

Does anyone have any idea if this is a common problem with the MMX 300 gen2?

I see there are others posting about this problem as well, but I have not seen a solution posted.

Your still in warranty. Beyer offer 2 years so contact who you purchased it form. Otherwise contact beydynamic they have a repair department they will ask for proof of purchase.

Sadly Im aware of multiple products of beydynamics dieing like this. I used to agree with @rice guru that there built like thanks. But it seems only the only the old designs like his 990s

I have to retract that statement a bit lol It's pretty specifc headphones that have decievingly bad build it seems beyer's failure points seem to lie in the cable very often. the custom one series seems to suffer. the more expensive models seem fine it seems the sub $400 newer beyers seem to have more issues pop up compared to the older models.

the best thing you can do is contact beyer. It could be a bad batch from increased demand after Zeos hyped them up like a year ago. beyer does have a nice spare parts program if you wanna try fixing it your self. I have a suspision the increased complication of having a mic may have fucked up the headphones somewhere in the manufacturing stage but thats just me speculating
