Why do people think the iPhone 11 is cheap

Load's of people are buying the iPhone 11 (not the pro) and saying it's cheap.

1.It has a 720p LCD display which is outdated for a 2019 £750 device

2.The screen is too wide in my opinion making it harder to type.

3.Not all apps scale up to the screen properly making it less functional 

 

If you are considering purchasing an iPhone I would personally get the iPhone XS or even the iPhone X it has a nearly equivalent camera (not including ultra-wide) and it has a more premium feel in the hands of the user

at the time of publication it is £700 and it is avaidible brand new on Amazon.

$699 US is cheap when considered within the rest of the current iPhone lineup. If you want a cheap iPhone, the iPhone 8 line still exists. 

 

iPhone 11 Pro Max - $1099

iPhone 11 Pro - $999

iPhone 11 - $699

iPhone XR - $599

iPhone 8 Plus - $549

iPhone 8 - $449

 

The iPhone 11 is a flagship phone, regardless of your personal opinions of the phone. It's incredibly popular because it has almost all the same features of the 11 Pro, but at a fraction of the cost. People don't care about the display having a 750p resolution on paper because the ppi is still Retina and they can't see the pixels. Other than the displays pixel count (color, contrast, and brightness are best in class for an LCD), the specs are top of the line.

This is an even larger issue on Android since there are a million different screen resolutions and aspect ratios/notch cutouts.

Nothing about the iPhone Xs and Xs Max makes their cameras anywhere equivalent to the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 has the A13 Bionic which increases the amount of ISP processing power and image quality significantly. Especially at night where the 11 leaves no contest for the Xs and Xs Max.

Relative to what PCs cost before 2000 for even entry level stuff (adjusting for inflation), an iPhone doesn't seem quite so outrageous.

Yeah for what it is things like the heathkit and compaq portable computer were like $4000 in the late 80s and 90s which adjusted is like $6000 for a laptop.

It's not cheap, but it's a reasonable price for what it offers. Just because you can do most things an iPhone or other flagship offers on a cheap device doesn't mean you should. They're a better expericence and more comfortable to use. A few hundred dollars more over 2 years is not an extreme cost for most people, and a phone is something that most people use for multiple hours a day.

I don't think they're saying it's cheap -- they're saying it's a good value.  There's an important distinction there.

 

It's an 828p screen, not 720p (hey, that matters), but here's the thing: it's still colour-accurate, vibrant and, importantly, delivers long battery life.  The iPhone 11 Pro is more competitive with the 11 on battery than the XS was with the XR, but it's still true that you want the regular iPhone 11 if you want a mid-sized model that lasts as long as possible.

 

For $699 you're getting a device that, in many ways, is on par with the Pro -- just for $300 less.  You only really want to splurge on the Pro if you crave that higher-res OLED screen, a telephoto camera and the higher-capacity storage options.  I'd buy the Pro because I thrive on the telephoto camera and appreciate the OLED screen, but the majority of people won't care about those features and should save their money.

Honestly couldn't agree more with this comment, though; it's not cheap per se but it's also not super pricey. My brother's got one and he's said that battery life is excellent on it. 

Nothing wrong with wanting an Android device, but when it comes to the base iPhone 11, it's a great middle-of-the-road phone if splurging on an 11 Pro or Pro Max is pointless to you or just not plausible... or if ya wanna experience an iPhone for the first time.
