How to get memory running at proper speed

Clear cmos?

 

Did you install in ram slot 2 and 4 not 1 and 3?

 

If that doesn't work then you need manual dial in manufacturer timing and speed in the BIOS.

I have to reset the CMOS to get it to POST after changing the speed. I tried both sets of slots.

Try reseating the memory.

What CPU?  The board memory controller can handle 3000mhz - but can the CPU memory controller?  If its Zen or Zen+ neither are rated to guarantee to work with 3000mhz (2666mhz for Zen, 2933mhz for Zen+) - the rest is luck.  I have a lot of experience with first gen Ryzen on this topic.

I got it working with just messing around with settings. The CPU is a Ryzen 7 2700. Thanks everyone.
