So I bought an MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) to use as the base of a home NAS I'm building. But when trying to power it up, it gives me two low pitched beeps with one high pitched, for a total of three beeps. I've looked around and the consensus seems to be bad RAM, but I'm skeptical of that. I've tried five different sticks of memory and it seems unlikely that all of them would be bad. I'm convinced the motherboard is bad, but I figured I'd come here to see if y'all have any ideas that I didn't think of before I return it to the eBay seller I bought it from. It has an i5 2500S as the processor. Any suggestions?

maybe you have a bad mount in your socket, or a bent pin that makes the CPU think your RAM is bad.

have you tried reseating the chip?

Yup, I reseated the chip and even cleaned the contacts on the bottom of the chip with an alcohol wipe (and waited for it to dry before reinstalling, of course.) Did the same with the contacts on the RAM dimms and didn't make a difference.

Check the manual, most times they will have a table of error codes.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!

Nope, nothing from MSI at all. It seems to be running an American Megatrends BIOS and the three-beep code says it points to bad RAM, but I'm still not convinced the actual dimms are bad

That is very possible, like @RollinLower it could also be a bad conneciton on the CPU. Since thats where the memory (eventualy) connects to.
And yes its possible that that could happen overtime. So if you have thermal paste to spare maybe take of the cooler take out the CPU, (or not) and then re-aply the cooler. It might fix it.
Else check for bent pins and such.

Reseated the CPU several times and no dice. Think the motherboard just may be bad, unfortunately.
