I am sorry, but I have to say it: GO AMD!

More perf for less power usage and upfront cost

Rest of the build: nice

Thats right, but some extra paste cant hurt.

i dont know why everyone tells me this. from what i hear AMD is better for rending videos, and workstations that most of the time require more cores/threads. And i also hear that intel is better for gaming especially in really well optimized games. And i will be purley gaming on this. i also got a pretty good deal on the i7 9700k 70 bucks off.

I guess every one is telling to go AMD because that’s the WAY batter solution?
A R7 3700x can be OCed to be at least a 3800x and will save you about 80$ compared to the 9700k. Also the mobos are cheaper (if you don’t need PCIe 4.0 wich you would anyway not get on Intel)

The 9900K(S) is faster in SOME games by a BIT wich you WONT notice unless you’re doing competitive CSGO on a 2080ti and 240FPS screen.

But as it looks like the 3950x ties with the 9900K(S) even in this game at WAY less power usage...

but the 9700K is slower or tied in every game with a 3800x or 3700x with a OC.

also 9700K uses way more power due to being 14nm. AMD Zen2 (that’s 3xxx CPUs) are on 7nm -> use less power, produce less heat and noise therefore

in EVERYTHING else the 3700x(OC) or 3800x blows the 9700K away.
you don’t have to be using rendering shit to benefit from it. multitaksing and multithreaded apps will become more and more important in the future and you will be able to properly use your CPU for much longer and save money now and on your power bills.

at this Moment there is simply no reason I’m going Intel. And no I am not a AMD boiii I buy what’s best at the time. And the gap has never been bigger between AMD and Intel.

Fans yes

RGB: I am no expert there but from my perspective: yes (but get a second opinion on that one)

Drop the PSU down to a 550w and if you're dead set on having all slots filled just spend the extra on 64GB of RAM, as it's only $80 more. Personally I'd just get 8gbx4.

In terms of spending money, it's a waste, and in terms of adding more to the block, yes it absolutely can hurt.

If you were using a flagship card Intel would be better. But the 3600x with this card will likely be right there in performance terms.

Eh, it's not always the better choice. He also said he's getting a discount on the Intel chip, so it might work out to be a better option.

The 9900k is faster than the 3950x in virtually every title.

Power use between the two really isn't that different. Only overclocked does the 9900k use more power, and it's not by much.

You know Intel's 7nm isn't the same as what AMDs 7nm is right? They're different processes. Intel isn't that far behind.

PSU: not mich more cost and future profing but ok

RAM: yup, I did not catch that

I was like: extra paste in case he needs to repaste or in the future.

Also extra paste added to the pre applied is silly but won’t hurt anything as demonstrated by LTT and GN

Look up igors labs analysis of this!

the Wats pulled are not THAT different yes

but due to the i9 taking longer to finish a job -> same compute is done for way more power out in. Nobody sees it like that but you have to factor in time when talking about power and the costs :)

I some Titels and that only a bit look up the LTT video on that one

and again: In everything besides that the 3950x blows the 9900k(s) away :)

about 7nm: yes I know but still Intel is behind on the tech side of things and therefore uses more power/ produces more heat / costs more / is slower in almost every app

Uh, what? Parts generally use less electricity as they mature, not more.

No, in most games. As in AMD won in maybe one, or two.

Haha, sure, to finish a rendering job...which the OP clearly stated he won't be doing, so it's a moot point ;)

Some parts do some don’t, for example the big boii video cards

Bit I always leave myself a bit of headroom. Maybe OP wants more power some day. I just think the little up price is worth it for getting some headroom 750W is cool.

power usage: or to do manny other things:

simple fact is that The Red Chip uses less for more power in most apps and less upfront cost
