GPU Fan Direction Symmetrical vs Alternating

I never get the marketing and physics ideas of symmetrical fan spins on gpu's or alternating gpu fans like in gigabyte's trio fans for the 5700 xt and others? 
Is one better than the other? What are the pros and cons of SF (symmetrical fans)? And the same for AF?

I'm greatly above potato, but I'm getting there...

Keyboard: Generic PS/2 Keyboard

Mouse: Generic Honeycomb 250Hz Mouse
Speakers: Generic Headset

And yes, there are now fans. 5 Arctic P12 PST's
