As manny of you might have noticed I am kind of a compute geek and run Folding, BOIC or my own physics simulation (I work in theoretical physics) crap close to 24/7. I am now getting a 3900x for Xmas. Therefore I need a MOBO wich:

  • 3x PCIe 16x (I need 3 fast GPUs for compute and its best to have them at least at 8x)
  • x570 (want to have future proof PCIe 4.0 since I need to move tons of data)
  • DECENT VRM for OCing 3900x 24/7 (no hardcore OC, I want it to be 24/7 save)
  • CPU/GPUs will be on water but there will be a bit of airflow over the VRM form the case fans.
  • USB-C (TB nice but not needed)
  • Audio solution irrelevant
  • Ok silent Chipset fan or possibility to getto mod a small noctua on there
  • Don’t need WiFi
  • max 300€

My research came to the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Pro. Is this a good choice or would you pic something else?

How are you going to have 3 GPUs at 8x on a 3900X?

no no i am not. Optimal perf is at 8x but for some workloads 4x is also fine.

With future pcie 4.0 gpus that won’t be a problem anymore.

for extended loads i'd pay a bit more for the master's heatsink, or you'll have to make sure whatever you run doesn't heat up the vrm above 85C (it's fine for regular use but 24/7 i wouldn't keep it at 85C)

I realize the master is over your budget but it's well worth it in ur use case imho.

GB X570 Aorus Pro $260 like the Ultra but cheaper, the Taichi is better!

ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate is a cheap way of getting 10gb lan for $260

MSI MEG X570Unify is kinda cool @ $300, ace minus a lan port, removed a lot of the bling, has post code, all around good, the board is ok,not a bad board just get the taichi, the taichi givs you more sata ports

ASRock X570 taichi $280

great board, solid board, asrock bios kinda clunky, fully featured with post code, 12 phase vrm, pwer button, reset button, clear cmos buttom and some on rear io, bios flashback button, does a little bit of everything

so how does the Aorus pro and taichi VMR compare?

would zu run taichi 24/7 under heavy load?
