Ok, so I've just finished my build etc, got everything working just fine except that after looking in the BIOS, my CPU is running at like 100°C, slowly rising until it shut down. Why would that be? Maybe it's the pre applied thermal paste that is too old?

Boot in to Windows and see how hot it is. My 3900X will hit 70C in BIOS, but 32C in Windows when idling.

Yeah sometimes this happens.

But at the same time do check if the cooler is properly installed.

Wow, I really hope this is the raison. It's now running at 94-95°C with max CPU fan speed. I'll see if it's still the case on Windows.

I've tighten the screws a little bit more and it seems to run cooler, so maybe it was also that

Could be some bugs in the BIOS. Have you update to the latest BIOS?

No, I'm at the point of the build where I built everything outside the case to see if it works. However, I don't think the numbers are false, because when it hitted 115°C my PC shutted down. Right now I've tighten the screws again and it's at around 80°C, but still rising.
