GTA V seeing just 512MB of VRAM after upgrading to a 570

I'm running Manjaro with Deepin DE and I believe I'm running the AMDGPU drivers (though I have installed AMDGPU-PRO packages that are listed on the Arch Wiki; not sure if I have to "enable" those or something). My previous GPU was a 370 and GTA didn't have any issues with the VRAM on that; it could see all 4GB.

All I did to upgrade besides physically swapping the cards was install the AMDGPU-PRO stuff, but someone on Reddit told me that the AMDGPU driver should be sufficient. Also, some games like BeamNG work fine with the expected massive performance improvement. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've tried reinstalling GTA but I still get the same error about not meeting minimum requirements (just for VRAM) and the VRAM bar at the top of graphics settings reading out of 512MB. I really want to fix this lol...I was looking forward to not playing GTA at 25FPS on lowest settings. Also, this might be related, but there is a *lot* of screen tearing. It's very noticable in things like YouTube. Thanks!

For a AMD Card, you only need to setup AMDGPU stay away from the AMDGPU-Pro Drivers, for a end user they are pretty horrid. Even AMD recommends using just the plain AMDGPU with mesa. I do need some information to help you.

Linux Kernel Version: uname -r

Mesa Version: glxinfo | grep "OpenGL version"  - It should have the mesa version in it.

Are you using Steam with Proton? If so what version?

Are using using just regular wine? Are you using DXVK? Are you using Lutris to manage your wine instance.  What version of Wine and DXVK?

Also for your screen tearing.

Yes, latest version. Same version I used with my 370.

No clue what is and isn't "regular" wine, and I'm not sure if I'm using DXVK. I think I'm not since iirc my 370 didn't support it or something like that.

No, I'm not using Lutris, don't even have it installed iirc.

And no, not sure what version of Wine and, if installed, DXVK. I would assume the latest for both, though.

Found that shorty after posting. I made the file and will reboot later to see if it fixes it.

Everything looks good from here. Can you add PROTON_LOG=1 %command% to GTA's Launch Options. You just need to get to the menu in game and exit. share your generated log file, it should be in your home directory.

Will do. One thing I noticed is this:

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command%

that was already in launch options. iirc this was a fix I did because the cursor wasn't locking to the game window after cutscenes or something like that. I can't remember lol.

If you do DXVK_HUD=full %command% does it display anythign on the screen and say anything about RADV? I see vulkan libraries being loaded, but no reference afterwards.

So just on the menu I didn't see anything on the screen, much less something about RADV. But one thing I did notice is that my VRAM is now "decected".

Another small update. I got the HUD to show up and it does say something about AMD Polaris RADV. Problem is, the game won't load Online without crashing.

Alright. That means vulkan is loading.

You can remove the DXVK_HUD

I do believe you need what you had before to get online.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command%

If you keep having issues try using https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/4.21-GE-1

extract it to ~/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/

Then select it as a forced compatibility tool under properties, you will have to restart steam for steam to see it.

GTAV has been really finicky since the new launcher, proton may not be switching to vulkan when it needs to each time.

First I'll try with no launch options, then with the Github thing.

Thanks.

Alright. It still crashes when loading even with no launch options. Unfortunately, I can't find a ~/.steam/root/compatabilitytools.d/ folder. Not inside root.

I'm pretty sure WINEDLLOVERRIDES=winedbg.exe=d %command% is required to get online

You will probably have to make the compat folder.

Managed to load into online and all of my VRAM is detected! I'll play around a bit, both just playing the game and also messing with settings and tell you how it goes.

Thanks a ton!

@Nayr438 So I just found another problem. Although GTA works totally fine, no other Proton games work. TF2 works fine but that is a native Linux title. BeamNG and Automation, the two other games I've tried, both just show an error that says "no file found". Nothing else.

Trying Steam Linux Runtime or the latest version of Proton (4.11-9 iirc) gives me another error: the same two games say "no executable found" along with a file location. Yes, I checked, and there indeed is no executable in the location it gives me. Any ideas?
