Hi everyone,

My specs:

MOBO: Gaming Plus B450

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x

CPU Cooler: Hyper 212

GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 5700xt

Case: Cooles Master MasterBox Lite 5 (3 intake 1 exhuast)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8 @3000Mhz

SSD1 (OS): Samsung EVO 500GB

SSD2: Kingstone SSDnow 120GB

HDD1: WD 3TB green

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 500W

I haven seen many videos where the Hyper 212 is placed vertically (facing the exhaust fan) which seems logical. But in my case, I can´t find a way to flip my (horizontally placed) Hyper 212, the bracket (metal x) just wont allow it.

Do you have any tips? Or on the other hand, will it really make a difference in temperature if I flip it?

Thanks!

You have to uninstall and reinstall it in the orientation you are looking for. It isn't adjustable in that way. If you do this you will also have to re-apply thermal paste I doubt the temperature will be affected much by it so if you don't have the necessary tools or things you will need it's probably not worth it.

I tried, I completely unmounted the metal x and tried to get it to fit the holes on the other orientation, but there was no way it could fit the holes with the metal cooler attached. But if it won´t make a great effect, then I will not spend the hour or more it takes to handle that horribl metal x.

The metal X is adjustable too, you have to adjust it to fit the other orientation by pushing and pulling the arms of the X bracket you'll see it can move and adjust.

Yeah, the metal X has those arms that change position, but the thing is that when they are in the position to fit the holes, I can no longer attach the X to the metal cooler.

EDIT: Anyways, I´ll give it a try once I have free time, since you say that it will not affect my temps too much.

I might take some fiddling but it definitely works. I can't see the mounting arms on mine right now, but I didn't have much trouble getting it into this configuration. I agree that it makes the most sense to have it feeding right into the exhaust fan.

Looks pretty.

When I am with the metal X alone I can make it match the holes on the MoBo. But then, when the X is in that configuration, how can I make it fit that little pin on the metal cooler? It just wont fit.

I'm guessing that you just need to rotate the X bracket 90 degrees and re-size the X bracket to fit.

This video from Cooler Master may help.

Wow! Thanks so much! 1:13 gave me the info I need. Can´t believe I didn´t think of that. Allthough I can see screwing the mount screws in on that position is going to be tricky.

As soon as I have time to do this whole process, themal paste and all, I´ll do it.

Thanks again.
