Hey,

I recently bought an Acer Nitro 5 laptop with i5-8300h, GTX 1050 (non TI version), 8GB of Ram (which I recently upgraded) and I’ve had a few problems:

1-)Every time I play recent games like Fortnite, RE 2 remake, Far Cry 5 among others my CPU temperature goes up like crazy (100C) it gets hotter than the GPU (I don’t know if it’s normal), how can I get a better cooling for my CPU? I had been using a cooling pad but I don’t believe it’s working very well.

2-) GPU usage is not above 40%, why does that happen?

Any help is much appreciated

1) Unless Acer has software for it, you can't. Lowering graphics quality can do something sometimes, but otherwise it is a laptop, you are bound to get high temps.

2) usually that means iGPU is being used instead of dedicated one. Make sure you have power cord connected or power saving mode turned off.

1. You may want to take it apart and re-apply better quality thermal paste, but first try to keep it elevated off of solid table top by whatever means possible, if this means finding 2 wooden sticks holding up sides then do that, sounds like its not breathing

2. what sunglasses cool man said, if its running 100C then the GPU isn't going to get utilized eitherway tho as CPU is down clocking like crazy and throttling it (bobblenecking)
