Trying to install windows 7 on my M6700 because windows 10 is being ass (there's a whole thread on that here), if I leave the eGPU connected windows will bluescreen on boot or during installation with the error 'BIOS is not fully ACPI compliant'. Now it should be ACPI compliant but because of the eGPU and BIOS mods I am not surprised. I tried both UEFI and CSM (Legacy) boot modes and both have the same error. Any help would be appreciated, if I disconnect the eGPU between POST and booting windows 7 it works fine and Windows 10 works "fine".

why no dark mode?

Might I suggest Windows 9? (AKA 8.1 embedded industry pro with a win7 skin on it)

It's got all the benefits of Win10, with none of the drawbacks, and it looks like a dead ringer for win7.

I use it as my daily driver and directX12 aside (which is win10 only IIRC) it's compatible with everything I have thrown at it.

Couldn't hurt to give it a swing, might play nice with your system.

No dice, blue screens right after starting the installer, I'll probably install Windows 10 Enterprise and see if it works better than pro...

No dice

Bummer....

What if you plug it in after you install everything?

Have you seen what happens (if anything) under, say, Ubuntu?

I presume it will have the same problem as windows 7 where it requires me to unplug the you then hotplug it after boot (which is annoying because the internal screen is driven via the egpu and egpu doesn't display anything before the driver is loaded...) Updating my rant post about windows 10 now because I can't even install 1909 with a clean install, just freezes exactly like the update

I am going to try win9 now, I enjoy my fingerprint sensor too much to switch to Linux, but that might be my last hope XD

Are you certain the eGPU and associated bits are, in fact, not defective?

No, absolutely not sure. In fact the eGPU dock is probably fucked.

As for windows 9, nope just blue screens on boot (with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, I know the ram is good as I just replaced it a month or 2 ago and have had no issues besides that bsod)
The EXP GDC I was using is known for signal integrity issues and I have had it disconnect randomly so I swapped it out for my other Expresscard adapter which has no problems.
