Get this one then since it seems like your only good choice :)

Hi,

I am currently having a system with Intel Core I7-8700k CPU and a Gigabyte GTX 970 GPU with Gigabyte P650B 80+ bronze PSU.

I am planning to upgrade the GPU to a MSI/ Aorus RTX 2080/ 2080 Super in next few days.
Also planning to upgrade the PSU to the new Gigabyte Aorus AP850GM 80+ Gold.

Will this Gigabyte Aorus AP850GM 80+ Gold PSU be okay to use for my configuration?

Motherboard: MSI Z730 Pro Carbon AC
Memory: 2 x 8GB G.Skill TridentZ 3200Mhz DDR4
GPUGigabyte GTX 970

Hello,

It's a good unit, the wattage is overkill (550/650w is enough), what's the price ?

Hi,
Doesn't the RTX 2080/ 2080 Super have a minimum recommendation of 650W PSU?

I just want to have good amount of headroom on PSU for future upgrades. :)

Well, the PSU is on sale at a local shop near me for ~150$

The 2080S shouldn't go above 300W, the CPU not above 150W. And that's really overestimating.

650W will be enough then unless you plan to go SLI, but it's kinda expensive and pointless nowadays.

You can look at the RMx 650w, it should be around 110USD, it's an as good unit with 10 years warranty for less.

Hi @Plouffe & @GDRRiley,

My initial plan was to go for the Corsair RMx 750 or else Cooler Master V750. But unfortunately its holiday season & most of the top branded PSUs between 550-750w range are almost sold out. And sadly EVGA & Seasonic PSUs are not available for purchasing in my region. ☹️

The only available unit for Corsair RMx & CoolerMaster Vanguard series available right now here is 1000W units which are a massive overkill in my opinion & simply a waste of money.

Some Thermaltake PSUs & Antec ones are available in the 600-750w range but they are not listed in the Tier A+ to B+ section. Hence my preference was to go for the Aorus one.

Anything wrong with the Aorus one (apart from being a tad bit expensive)?

Hey, your psu is completely fine, no need to upgrade that. 450w psu can un i9 9900ks and rtx 2080ti fine, so over 650w with your build would be overkill, and you should spend taht money to better model of rtx 2080 super.

No, its pretty good, put you should not upgrade that ans use 100bucks to new psu, use the money for better model of rtx  2080 super and better motherboard.

Well there are really nothing wrong with with 80+ gold antecs, but there are better options. Thermaltake as no issues at psu's either really
