Use phone as only monitor for PC?

Hi,

The only purpose of my second PC is run VR games.
So it just needs to boot and I need a way to launch a game.

Is there anyway to use your phone as your only monitor.

Or are there any cheap small touchscreens out there? It seems like they are all €200+.

Thanks

It’s possible but would likely cost more than $200 to set up.  What about a $20 used monitor and some kind of $5 mouse?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Yes that is the easy solution but I would like a clean look.

$200 worth of clean?

No monitor at all.  Straight into VR.  I like it.  Still need a monitor and mouse to set up, but only temporarily.  They’d still have to be kept around for times when things screw up but they could be removed and put in a closet or something most of the time.

It should be actually pritty simple, if you have win 10 pro running on your machine, you could simply enable an Remote desktop connection (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17463/windows-7-connect-to-another-computer-remote-desktop-connection). Than get the official remote desktop app from the Playstore (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android&hl=en_US) or any RDP conection app for your Phone and connect to your pc via the Network. And the best is, it is beside the higher cost for the pro licence completly free. (If you have additional Questions feel free to contact me.)

Remote admin is not for the faint of heart.  It’s doable though.  Needs an entirely separate pc that also has a copy of pro on it.  I got the impression he had only the one.

He said "his second PC" in the first sentence.

Remote desktop needs Pro only on server side, client can be home, and as mentioned you can use any mobile device too.

This works but some games/programs won't run when launched using RDP.

Out of date I am.  Used to be you could telnet but it wouldn’t do screen sharing.  Or maybe I’m thinking home?  Argh.  Too old I am perhaps.  Almost anything unixy would serve instead of pro as well. A Mac won’t.  If the phone is Android there may be an app.  All the same problems though.  I still like used monitor and mouse.
