Came back from holiday and I decided to clean my laptop, I didn’t check if it still worked before but it did before I left.

I removed the dust and replaced the thermal paste, I also took out the RAM and put it back in, then I closed the laptop and when I started it all I got was a black screen.

Everything turned on normal, LED light on, HDD spinning, the CPU and GPU is emitting heat and it all seems fine.

I connected a monitor and the monitor didn’t detect anything, I also tried clearing CMOS by taking the little silver battery thing out and putting it back in.

Nothing works and I really need some help.

Cheers

Took out RAM in laptop and put it back in and now laptop won’t start

How do you know the RAM is the problem? It could just as easily be that you reassembled it incorrectly when you replaced the thermal paste - in fact that's more likely. Check that the ram is properly inserted, then go through the repasting process again and pay close attention when you reassemble the laptop.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I am almost certain the RAM is inserted correctly because the side clips hook in and make that clip sound.

When I replaced the thermal paste I just unscrewed a copper pipe and replaced it, then I put the copper pipe back on.

What should I check? I took out a few cables but I made sure to put them back in.

Isnt it more likely of him not putting the ram properly in all the way? You need to hear quite an audible click. When teaching my mom how to assemble a pc/laptop (yes she is interested lol) She didnt quite dare to push it all the was.

The cables might not be inserted properly. Or, you could have accidentally damaged a connector during disassembly.

I feel like I pushed it hard enough but while pushing I don’t go very hard on it because I’m afraid of it snapping... (I’ll try harder this time)
