It depends what cpu cooler you are going to use since the 9900k doesnt come with a cooler. some coolers come with pre applied thermal paste some dont.

you walway need thermalpaste for your cpu. Do not know what your brother is saying. If the i9 or the mobo comes with thermal paste (they dont) the n you can use the thermalpaste that came from your products.

Not true. Your cpu always needs thermalpaste no matter what.

 

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

That cooler comes with preapplied thermal paste. No need to do extra. If it didnt have it preapplied you HAVE to put on some yourself. You can recognise most thermal pastes by the grey color. Make sure to double check your cooler before you apply it.

If it comes with thermalpaste use that. If it does not you have to buy thermalpaste. Your cpu will overheat without it 100%.
