A cunning plan for fixing the x570 fan issue

this might be real dumb or already discarded, but I had a thought about x570 fans.

I don’t trust the things, and simply strapping a gigantic heat sink to the mobo doesn’t work like it did with north bridge/south bridge because it’s  in the way of the pcie cards.

The thing is no one is ever going to use the bottom one.

SLI/crossfire is basically dead because games aren’t supporting it.  That leaves 2-3 x16 slots left basically wasted.

Make a passive cooler that fits onto the x570 chipset and slots into the lowest x570 slot.  It wouldn’t do anything except hold the cooler, but it often doesnt do anything anyway.  They’re all more or less in the same place.  You could make the connector plate oversized and put it on a heat pipe you could bend a bit, and it would fit multiple motherboards.  The airflow would be terrible, but you’ve got a gigantic space to work with and it’s only 10 freakin watts.  Might not need a cooler at all.  To bend copper pipe without linking it you need to support the pipe.  The cheapo pipe support is basically a big spring that fits over the pipe

they’re not accurate but they are cheap.  Make it as part of the cooler.  Never remove it.  It would protect the pipe, make it easily bendible, and it could act as a heat dissipator. Just get some paste inside it.  Wouldn’t be very good at it of course. They’re spring steel.  Totally not copper or aluminum.  It would have to be kinda long.  Still.  Only 10 watts.  Just make a plastic bit that fit in the slot ( they probably already exist) that had a ring clamp on it so the pipe could be adjusted.  The effective length would change depending on the position of the x570 on a given board.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

The x570 chipset fan is the reason why I went with x470 instead.

X470 is what I will likely do as well.  Weird things happen when an old man is sitting on the John.   It takes a while and the mind tends to wander.  The only thing actually wrong with x570 imho is the fan.  And the price.  That’s more forgivable though.

The x570 price is not really bad. The sub $200 ASUS TUF X570 performs on par with ASUS high end X470 Crosshair VII that is over $200. Heck, the naked and poor man X570-P can run 3950x. The x570 chipset fan is a big hell no to me. I read that some big graphic cards can block the chipset fan vent which resulting high chipset temp and throttling back to pcie 3 speed.

Hmm, how about liquid cool the chipset?

Anyway, my idea of cooling the chipset is to modify with a laptop CPU heat sink + fan.

I apologies if my comments or post offends you in any way, or if my rage got a little too far. I'll try my best to make my post as non-offensive as much as possible.

Iirc there is a liquid monoblock hat also has the cpu and VRM

rereading I have a different reply: no.  Not even vaguely even.  “No one” is a big word.  Too big perhaps.  A lot won’t.  One could make allowances for a pcie cable as well I guess.  One use would be a non x16 card.  One could make such an attachment point smaller and angled off to the side. The latch on the x16 is the most useful bit for this scenario and any non d16 slot card wouldn’t use it anyway.
