Finalizing a 3950x build, wondering if there are any obvious swaps I should be making or less-obvious swaps I should be considering

Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard  (Friend wants to sell me one, don't know for how much, not beholden to buying it from him if there are obviously better choices or if it's a bad idea to get a cheaper X570 board)

Total: $2829.91

No case at the moment - I'd like to find an old beige case and stick everything in there but not sure how much work it'd be. Would appreciate recommendations on how to approach. I'm also considering going for a unicorn-vomit RGB build instead, depending on effort/price of either option.

Live in the US, not firm on budget - willing to go up (or down) if there's a good value proposition.

Going to use for VR & gaming (CP2077 next year, probably will pick up Outer Worlds, whatever else looks cool, haven't played much recently and want to rectify that), ML side projects (deep learning and otherwise), misc. non-ML coding side projects, might get back into streaming at some point

Probably going to use a single Samsung Q70 as monitor (either running at 1440p120 or 4k60 depending) until https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38GL950G-B-gaming-monitor rolls around.

Would like to do some overclocking for performance gains but don't want to spend an inordinate amount of time tinkering.
