Hello. I come to you in a time of need. At my workplace we've been tasked to specifically work with an older 3D monitor (Acer gn246hl) and a Quadro RTX 4000. The issue (Aside from the deprecated technology) right now is, the quadro only has Display Port outputs (and a usb C) , while the monitor only wants DVI-D 24+1 as input for the 3D to work. We've tried an adapter but it did not work, as it capped at 120hz at 720p. We've now found out that we may need an ACTIVE adapter for the 144hz at 1080p to work. The issue is, I cannot find any such adapters in my country (I need it asap) , but I do find Active adapters for Display Port to DVI-D 24+5. My question is , can I plug a DVI-D 24+1 male connector into a DVI-D 24+5 female connector? or is that love forbidden. If not, then do you have any other ideas of how we could make this monitor + gpu pairing work with the 3D ? Thank you.

I’m running into the same problem I think.  Is dviD 24+1 the same as dual-link DviD?

my information so far if it is, is The active adaptors are expensive, have problems with things like sleep and restart, and require a separate usb.  They also still don’t always work.  They are available on several sites.  Can you order off amazon?  I’ve seen them for as little as ~$US75 to as much as ~$US140

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I think we've been looking at the same adapters on Amazon (a StarTech one and a DELL one, the StarTech one seems better judging by the reviews). The USB is a non-issue, also the sleep and restart seems to be an issue specific to that DELL adapter. The Quadro is in a eGPU enclosure. I would prefer not ordering from amazon. I'm curious about the physical and technical compatibility between the 24+1 and the 24+5 connectors. The 24+1 seems like would fit in the 24+5 , and the 4 unused pins are for ANALOG video, so in THEORY it shouldn't be an issue, but I don't want to risk without knowing for sure it would work.

You have a DVI-D connector, it's just DVI Dual Link without the Analogue Input part.

The problem you have is that it's difficult to create the Dual Link signal you would need for high refresh rate, therefore active converters (that support dual link) are expensive.

You will find plenty of cheap DVI Single Link adapters.  In addition to that, DVI Single Link and HDMI are pin compatible, so you will find passive adapters that can change between HDMI and DVI Single Link, which allows you up to 1920x1200 60 Hz

You can buy DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and then use a passive HDMI->DVI adapter to get up to 1920x1200 60 Hz ... but then again, the monitor also has HDMI and VGA inputs so why not use HDMI then from the start.

I am not interested in 60hz though. I am only interested in 1920x1080 144hz via a DVI-D 24+1 Output (so the 3D on that monitor would work). And the GPU only has DisplayPort (and 1 USB C) outputs.

Yes, and what I'm saying is that you can get cheap DisplayPort -> HDMI adapters or cables and then use a cheap HDMI -> DVI Single Link adapter to create a DVI output for your video card

DisplayPort to HDMI : https://www.amazon.com/Converter-UKYEE-Displayport-Connector-Compatible/dp/B07QR96KNP/

HDMI to DVI Single Link : https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Adapter-2-Pack-Gold-Plated-Converter/dp/B00ZMVGTA2/

If your monitor has HDMI input, the DisplayPort to HDMI adapter alone would be enough to get 1920x1200 60 Hz... but that's it.

with both , you get DVI, but still Single Link.  So at least the monitor would be usable, but at 1920x1080 60 Hz

For more than that, you need an ACTIVE converter which can output DVI Dual Link AND more than 60 Hz - a lot of them say dual link but that's only because they can do 2560x1600 at 60 Hz (single link DVI can do max 1920x1200)

Like I said, good luck finding such a nice product.
