Hi,

I bought the mentioned laptop about 2 years ago.

I used Windows Memory Diagnostic, and it said there is a problem with computer's memory. I'm unsure what to do. I've checked with Speccy, and appears that I have 4GB soldered in, and 4 GB in one slot (out of 2). See attachment.

I've read that RAM is either faulty right after manufacturing, or ok, that there's no such thing as RAM wear-and-tear. Is this correct?

What do you suggest I do? I'll take the laptop to the service so they clean the cooler and everything from the dust, and replace thermal paste, just in case.

Everything is working almost normally, I mean, I'm able to boot and do stuff on the computer, but sometimes chrome tabs close themselves, with insufficient message RAM.

Could it be that I just don't have sufficient RAM and hence the 'error' message from windows memory diagnostic? Even in 'clean state' (all programs closed, only windows default tasks running), I have about 60% RAM usage.

If I get to the point that I have to buy new RAM, would this be OK choice:

I see that it's DDR4 and frequencies match.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Mefhisto1 and welcome to the Linus Tech Tips Forum.

First of all mate, i'd recommend to remove the 4GB that can be removed and then run a MEMTESTX86 on the soddered memory. After it finishes, run on the other 4GB DIMM.
