I apologize as this question must get asked a lot but I have been researching what GPU to upgrade to and it is making my head hurt. I have been looking at NVIDIA products but I wouldn't be opposed to AMD recommendations either.  I want something that would theoretical get me to the end of life of this current build.  Price isn't a huge deal but would like the best value.  So If the 500 dollar card gets me another 6 years out of this machine then I would be willing to pay it.

My current Specs are:

CPU
    Intel Core i7 4770K @ 3.50GHz    34 °C
    Haswell 22nm Technology
RAM
    32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. MAXIMUS VI HERO (SOCKET 1150)    33 °C
Graphics
3071MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti (ASUStek Computer Inc)    36 °C

Thanks,

Myself I would buy a used 1080ti. But what ever card fits on that budget. I think 2070 does. Or maybe the super.

I assume you’ll be getting a new cpu by some point if 5 years is the longterm goal.

As that cpu can’t handle much. Gave away my 1080 and put a 1060 in with mine. Does ok for old games at 1440 but that’s about it.

It looks like the only upgrade for the 1150 socket is the i7-4790.  Would you say that is something i should consider as well?

Nope 4790k is the same.

I meant a real upgrade. Something not 5 generations

Yeah I just dont want any GPU I buy now to be bottle-necked by the CPU. Do you think the 2070 would be hampered buy the CPU?
