Hi everybody,

I'm considering these two builds. Main focus will be game design (using maya, unity, etc), playing VR games whilst streaming/capturing and editing it into vids for a YT channel. You will notice that these setups don't include a PSU, I'd like some input on that (and the overall setup of course). Currently considering a 80+ 750w unit, but I have a closed tower, I don't care about aesthetics, just airflow and performance.

This will be to upgrade my current setup consisting of:

i7-7490K
GTX 970
z97 Guard Pro

16g ram

Which can handle games and task reasonably well, but it barely makes VR viable, let alone get a sexy amount of FPS with the 120hz Valve Index (which im considering as VR set above the Vive pro)

Oh and the Raijintek Agos case is €50, it lists as €0. This case is amazing value, just as an fyi.

Any input would be quite appreciated. :)

(Also yeah, the build list in is Dutch)

CPU choice mostly comes down to how high quality you want to record/stream at, and how fast you want editing to go. The 3700X isn't going to be a slouch in either department, but the 3900X is obviously a step up.

As for the PSU, 650W would do fine, it's better to go for quality over (excess) quantity. If your current PSU is solid you could also keep using it.

Current PSU: XFX TS Series 550W, probably not sufficient, right?

It's getting kind of borderline, especially with the 3900X.

There are a couple different variants of the XFX TS by the way, if it's the gold rated one it could probably soldier on, while the bronze rated one should be replaced IMO.

I don't know how well PCpartpicker covers the Dutch market, but it looks like the Corsair RM750 is a good deal and costs the same as the 650W version, so you might as well go for the bigger one.

Alas, I have bronze. Corsair RM (2019) 750 W 80+ Gold you say? I'm adding it to the PSU shortlist.

Dutch and USA markets are roughly equivalent, Pcpartpicker has it for $89,00, tweakers.net has it for €86,00. I'm also assuming VR will draw significant power if I make it draw from the PC. so I'm guessing either 650w and up or 700w and up.

I've also noticed I've been stupid. I can get 3800x instead of 3700x for like €13,00 extra. So the cheaper build will have the 3800x in there, if I end up going with it.
