I've been looking to update/renew my out-dated rig as of late and have made the first step in doing so by purchasing a second hand 2600X from my brother. As such, I'm still in need of a motherboard and RAM for the system and was looking for some recommendations.

I have my interest in the following parts, however really would like some second opinions on the parts or perhaps some alternatives. There isn't a specific budget as such, but obviously the cheaper the better. I intend to play games for the most part and generally just want a system I can rely on and get the most out of.

Any input is greatly appreciated, cheers.

The parts I have in mind are as follows:

Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16 XMP 2.0 Enthusiast RGB LED Illuminated Memory Kit - Black

Aorus B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI (Socket AM4/B450/DDR4/S-ATA 600/Mini-ITX) -  https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GZW32BV/ref=dp_cerb_1?th=1

They seem fine.  I’m not a big fan of rgb myself and see no reason to pay extra money for it, but if you like it you like it.

Alternatives:

MSI has a series of b450 motherboards with unusually beefy VRM that would allow you to use a more powerful CPU later if you wanted.

If you’re willing to give up the RGB you can save some money

If you can spend even more money you can get faster ram.  Ryzen really likes fast ram

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

That's great thankyou, I had a little doubt on my choices, but the recommendations for faster RAM are greatly appreciated, thanks alot.

That stuff can change without warning.  You might want to take a look at the U.K. version of pcpartpicker.com

thats where I pulled it from.  They web spider a bunch of merchant sites and there are filters and sorts to figure out what you want.  The filters are a tad bare imho, but it’s still handy enough.

Don't waste money on more expensive 3600 ram especially for a 2600X. The memory controller isn't as good as the 3000 series. I would just go with a 3000 - 3200 for 60 quid. You can always mess about with overclocking it if you want with the dram calculator.

I would go with the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT as it is E Die.
