I bought a new high end pc:

CPU: I9 9900K

GPU: Gigabyte 2080ti

Ram: crosair vangence 32 GB

SSD: 240 Crosair Nvme, 1TB samsung

Hard drive : Segate 1 TB

Crosair h150I pro WATER COOLER

z390 Aorus master mother board

I'm kind of a newbie in modren gaming pcs, Till that point I've used a pc from 2009.

How do I overcloack my CPU, What Bachmark and stress test do you recommend me?

What maintenance progrems do I need to download?

And genral advices you can give me?

On youtube theres a crap load of guides that will walk you through overclocking. Be much easier watching someone do it instead of reading being told how imo.

Maintenance wise...not anything really. Personally i just use windows defender and never had any issues. That of course depends on what your doing with the pc.

Buy a decent anti virus tool like kaspersky pro. And with your Hardware, there is no need to OC at all atm.

I mean he bought a k series and a z390 mobo.

Would be kinda a waste not to use what he paid extra for.

Defender is allright if you don't frequent shady sites to download weird and kinky stuff and it's free*.

*in exchange for all of your personal data of course.

Nonsense. Kaspersky dont use any serious ressources.

No need for an antivirus if OP has Windows Defender and isn't a complete idiot.

Or uses Linux ;)

Defender isnt near as effective.  But its not my PC. Its up to him if 40 bucks a Year is worth the extra protection.

It's more the common sense part than the Defender part. I agree, Defender is shit, but IMO common sense is the best antivirus.

Don't overclock it.

Why?

That's why:

And also because you've no need to overclock that hardware. At least not now.

Many Bots and Backdoors are domain related. Not just on chady  porn sides. I dont take any chances.

Or he could save $40 a year and just not download shady files.

I havent had an antivirus in about 6 years and havent had any issues. Dont really see the point in giving up resources.

Over the years I've stacked over 20TB of pirate content, any kind you can imagine, games, movies, series, music, videos, a bit of everything so to speak, and not a single virus came into my computer or NAS and at this point I can only wonder how people get viruses and tbh, I don't think a lot of people fall for those "free iPhone" ads or "GTA 6 torrent one link legit no fake fully cracked" posts right? it's gotta be something else.

So you are a Thief. But you dont know much about backdoors and bots. I wonder why. End of disscussion.

The point is that you have to be basically looking to get a virus, rat, etc to get one.

I dont know anyone who uses an anti virus anymore and tbh i dont know anyone whos been attacked.

Its basically an iq test. Dont download shady things or visit shady sites. Hell even browsers these days have built in protections to tell you a site is or isnt safe.

So your saying. That if me and everyone i know right now bought that anti virus and ran it half of us would be part of a bot network?

I think you've never tried Avast.

I'm currently running it on my Core 2 Duo E8400 machine with 4 Gigs of RAM.

CPU usage at idle: ~1.5-3%. RAM usage: 60-70 MBs.

I mean if you want to use an anti virus thats cool.

Im just saying the built in protections are more then enough for anyone that just has the slight bit of awareness when it comes to what you download and what sites you visit.

I havent had one in years and id bet money if i downloaded one tonight and ran it that it would come up clean.

You still think bad programms come only with shady pornsites or fake apps. Thats not how this stuff works. But hey. Its your PC.

Doesnt matter. Id still bet money that if i ran any anti virus i would be clean.

Kasoersky isnt some magical program that catches everything and all the other programs are incapable of. Its not like they pay to get insider info on what attacks are out there. Windows defender and built in security in browser is enough to protect most people from almost anything.

It doesnt matter how it works.

Most people can run nothing but windows defender and be fine.

Your acting like everyone who doesnt use kaspersky is full of malware and viruses. Thats just not true. Kaspersky is not some be all end all protection service. They dont have access to anything microsoft doesnt.

"End of story" as if you (or anyone for that matter) are qualified to just make generalizations as facts and everyone should accept it.

Like i said. Id bet money that the majority of half way aware pc users that arent running anything outside of defender ran any other software they would be clean.

Its not hard to stay safe with just defender. It does a pretty good job along with other built in protections.
