This is my first ever build so go easy on me please. After research upon research I have come to the conclusion that everyone thinks their products are the best and the amount of hardware can get confusing, I tried to go on discords and I got laughed at for my very little knowledge. I have built this just based on research and I am looking for a genuine opinion and if it needs changed then why.

 

I am in the UK, my budget would be around £1200 and I already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard.

I have no preference on brands because I don't know I would just like a future proof system that will last.

I will be mostly gaming at maximum 4k60 just based on my monitor and it will be mostly single player games, won't be venturing into hardcore fps yet.

4K is a "hardcore" resolution if you put it this way for a 5700XT, you'll have to run lower graphical settings.

Ah okay my bad then, I meant hardcore fps games like OW, COD, CS:GO etc, So a 5700XT wouldn't run 4K games?

What GPU would run them at 60 or is it not even worth doing 4k60?

swapped the 3700x for a 3600 which is perfectly good for games and almost all uses.

 

RTX 2070 SUPER should push about 10% more frames than a 5700XT in most games

 

If you really want to push 4k60, you will have to stretch your budget a little bit more to maybe £1350 and fit an RTX 2080 SUPER in your build.

the R5 3600 is right now the most bang for the buck CPU. You also won't gain any FPS by upgrading to the 3700x. With the 3600, you should be set for a few years as long as you are not always looking to be on the bleeding edge of technology.

I'm running a GTX 1080 Ti which performs about the same as a 2080 Super, easily get over 100fps in CS:GO and Overwatch at 4k max settings.

Okay on the R5 3600, That makes a lot of sense thank you honestly. It can be so daunting building a PC with no knowledge at first. I am not looking to be on the bleeding edge so I think I am on to a winner here.

 

I will look at the price difference between the 2080 and 2070, if I were to opt for the 2080 would the rest of the build be able to handle that?

 

Ah right that also makes a lot of sense, I think for some games I will still use my PS4 Pro possibly depending on how it looks on PC but thank you so much honestly! My monitor is 60hz anyway for now so that is max 60fps yeah?

yup with vsync it will top out at 60fps. letting it go uncapped may result in screen tearing.

 

Do note that there is a difference between the 2070 and the 2070 SUPER. Same for the 2080 and the 2080 SUPER. The SUPER cards have essentially replaced the NON SUPER cards. Make sure when you purchase the card you don't get the NON SUPER versions as there is a significant performance deficit.

Do note that there is a difference between the 2070 and the 2070 SUPER. Same for the 2080 and the 2080 SUPER. The SUPER cards have essentially replaced the NON SUPER cards. Make sure when you purchase the card you don't get the NON SUPER versions as there is a significant performance deficit.

Stupid question but is that CPU cooler necessary because of the CPU or case doesn't have one or is it extra?

It's not necessary, but the stock cooler (that comes with the CPU, not case) is kinda bad. As in you'll hear it under load and CPU will run 80C+
