I just got an active Display port to DVI adapter for my monitor because My graphics card only has Display Port and HDMI and my Monitor has VGA HDMI and DVI. My old PC had a graphics card that had DVI so I could get 144hz on my monitor no problem but HDMI doesn't allow it. I plug the Display port to DVI into my computer and monitor and try upping the refresh rate, I'm able to do it but something pops up on my monitor saying "incorrect cable please use the dvi dual-link that came with your monitor" I have the Acer GN246HL monitor and GTX 1660Ti graphics card

Have you checked to make sure the adapter supports 144hz?

I've been told it supports up to 144, i tried putting my monitor's refresh rate to 80 and it gives me that message

If the product description does not explicitly state it, I would think the adapter does not support 144hz.

But have you tried a different cable?

I'm seeing mixed answers. But in the QA section on the Amazon page, some people say it does not support 144hz while others say it supports upto 120hz.

There's also this:

Quote

DP2DVID2 supports a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz when running at 1920x1080. To achieve 1920x1080 at 144Hz we recommend our MDP2DVID2.
Matt, StarTech.com Support

I'd say it just doesn't support it.

Is it connected with single link DVI or dual-link DVI?

You need to connect it with dual-link DVI.

That totally slipped my mind. Woops.

Op, yes it will work if using a dual-link DVI cable.

That's a single-link DVI adapter. It needs to be a dual-link active adapter.

The mixed Q&A responses are because Amazon combines the Q&A from all of the product styles, which include both that adapter and the dual-link one.
