LG 27GL850 vs. Asus Rog Swift PG279Q

locketrancher

Hey guys, I recently purchased both the LG 27GL850 and the Asus Rog Swift PG279Q monitors. My intention is to return one after I decide which one I prefer. The problem is I'm having difficulty deciding which one is better. The monitor will mainly be used for gaming and everyday internet use, I don't foresee myself watching movies or editing photos. Can anyone assist me in making the decision?

Isn't the point of getting both monitors rather than reading reviews & recommendations on each one before buying is that you can answer that question yourself?

Personally i would go with the Asus.

It has better uniformity , though its still IPS so it isnt exactly great. its got good brightness if needed, and the pixel response is decent though not as good as the LG, BUT it does have the option to OC to 165hz which usually helps improve pixel response as well. It also has BFi if u want to use it. Native Gsync. Its factory calibration is also better than the LG.

The LG has better color coverage and HDR, but should be better calibrated, its also a 10bit panel, and has poor uniformity, not terrible ..but worse than the Asus. It has better native pixel response, but has no factory OC available and no BFI.

So , if u want HDR get the LG, if u dont care for HDR , get the Asus.

Yes, that was my intention. I then realized I didn't know how to compare the 2 as well as I had hoped. For example, the colors appear dramatically different, is that the difference in panels or the out of box calibration?

Thank you, this was very informative. Based on the points you have made and the bit of research I have done I am leaning towards the Asus.
