Hello everyone,

I am in the market for a laptop I need one because I do some photography and want to be able to do some photo editing on the go. The files I work with are in Raw format usually 34mb in size. I use a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop to edit photos with.

I am writing this here to get other people's opinions on what kind of laptop I should get I was thinking a MacBook pro. However the price seems a little high for me and I wanted to get other suggestions. My price range is $1500 CAD

I can't wait to hear and see what you guys think about this!!

$1,500 can get you a refurb Macbook Pro from NewEgg. Though I think they're generally only better if you're using FinalCut Pro.

I was thinking I might dabble in some videography in the future but tbd. And the MacBooks I saw on new egg that are 1500 where from 2015 and im not sure about buying a 5 year old laptop for 1500...

You'll want a proper colour corrected screen, and 1500$ CAD (which is what? 1.75$ in real money? I kid I kid) will get you that used MB, but for videography? You're gonna need way more horsepower than that, unless you don't mind waiting for the system to play catch up.

I use LR and PS (to a lesser extent) but my RAW files start at 100MB and go up from there,

My main rig is 20 cores, 40 threads (dual Xeons) with 64GB RAM and I'll easily eat up 1/2 of that during a big shoot.

Back on topic, MBs have really nice screens....but are you prepared for MacOS?

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.
