Looking for advice on upgrading my PC

Wrong Forum, i reposted this on the "New build" Forum. How do i delete this? lol

Hello to all,

i am currently looking to upgrade my PC.

The current specs are:

GPU: GTX 1060 6gb Zotac

CPU: Intel i5 3550

CPU-Cooling: Alpenföhn Brocken

Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G43

Memory: 16gb DDR3

Storage: 250GB Sata SSD Samsung Evo 850 and 1TB Hitachi HDD

Power Supply: 550W

Monitor: 1080p 144Hz 1ms

A few other things worth noting as well. My motherboard has two PCIe slots for the graphics card. One it PCIe Gen 2 and one Gen 3. Unfortunatly the Gen 3 slot only fits the graphics card loosely. What i mean by that is that the GPU disconnects from time to time which is really annoying so i switched to the Gen 2 slot.

Since Black Friday is coming up i am looking to upgrade. I mainly want to fix the Gen 2 slot problem and also want to upgrade my CPU. Now i know that a new Motherboard would mean upgrading CPU and RAM as well.

So far i was thinking about going for the Ryzen 5 3600, Aorus Elite x570, and 16GB of DDR4 3600 CL16 RAM.

I know that the x570 might be a little bit of overkill, but i want a nice motherboard that i can work with for future upgrades (e.g. PCIe 4.0). Plus i read that the new Ryzen CPUs perform best on a x570 board and the "sweet spot" for RAM is supposed to be 3600MHz.

Not sure if the 550W Power supply is enough when going to a more powerful CPU.

I am mainly gaming on this machine with the exception of occasional CAD work.

Frequently played games are: Rocket League, Singleplayer games like The Witcher III, Middle Earth-Series, Apex Legends and I'm looking forward to playing Cyberpunk 2077.

I would greatly appreciate your input since i am no expert on this topic, except for half-read articles and Youtube videos.

Cheers from Germany,

DaYn95
