Not sure but that's a lot of dust.

Definitely. I dust mine out around every 4 months but since you live in a dusty place and claim that it gets dusty after 4 days, I'd dust it out weekly if I were you. The easy way to know when to dust it out is basically when it stops looking brand new inside. In my opinion, any amount of dust that's obvious needs to not be there.

If you want, after you dust it out you can take a picture and post how new it looks in this post. Then in 1 week, take another picture and post it and I'll tell you if it needs to be dusted or not. You can keep doing that every week til you get a time frame of how often to dust it. If you want that is.

Don't forget to shutdown the PC, flip the on/off switch on the power supply to OFF and unplug everything from the back of the PC before dusting it out. I actually pickup and move my entire PC to another location(my dining room near an open window) so that all that dust can separate from the room my PC is in.

Also, until you do get an extra case fan, it might be a good idea to bump up the fan speed of your current front case fan. Your PC shouldn't get that dusty so quick.

Does it have a backplate? I guess excessive dust could cause a short circuit, but not immediately..

You could look into getting more/better fan filters.

Would need to be a perfect scenario for it to happen.

As a lot of dust can be skin from your body. But would have to be a lot to actually short. Just like jay showed in one of his recents videos, spraying water on it didn’t do anything to an extent.

I tend to use old toothbrushes for pcv cleaning.

Use something like this... Multipurpose Duster. Usuallly around $4.00-$6.00 at Walmart.

You can use a paintbrush for when it's super dusty, yes. Once you dust regularly you'll only need to use the air duster.

Because your mobo is vertical up against the wall of your PC. Your GPU and PSU are horizontal so dust falls onto them much easier. Your mobo/CPU cooler still gets dusty just not as much. You should probably get an extra fan in the front of your case for extra airflow to push out the dust a little better. Only around $5.00-$10.00 for a decent case fan. Just make sure you get the right size.

Tough to say. Do you have an idea of what could be causing so much dust buildup so quickly?

  • Maybe the location of your PC? Is it on the floor? Is it very close to doors or windows?
  • Have you checked the HVAC filters in your home? They might be clogged up or broken. From your air conditioning units and systems to heating units and systems, windows, fans, and any other ventilation systems in your home. You might need to clean these filters out or replace them.
  • Have you tried to replace, repair, or clean your air ducts? Your home’s air ducts might be full of dust or, even worse, they might have holes in them. If your ducts have been punctured, dust is most likely escaping the ducts, which defeats the purpose of having them in the first place.
