i'd wait, tune down the settings abit

the 5700 /xt is just like a cheaper variant of 1080

updated my signature running 3700x and got the monitor as a gift from an event  i like it easy to run ips 144hz,

Also previously was running ASUS ROG Swift PG248Q 24” to get 180hz  frames got the 1080ti but no longer needed and damn i like ips monitors and ips 144hz ones are a bit expensive side :)

The "best buy" card for 1080p 144Hz today would be the GTX 1660 Super. If you'd like to add Ray Tracing to the mix and still go above 100 fps, the RTX 2060 Super or 2070.

On the AMD side, the Vega 56 (flashed with a vega 64 bios) would be my choice. Wouldn't go above RX 5700.

i dont trust it can handle 144fps

techdeals had some video on this

The 1660 Super is quite near the 1660Ti, Tech did not test the Super variant because it was released during his benchmarking.

yet the 1660ti is 30% faster than 580 & 5700/xt is just 70~80% faster,  implied that it wont handle 1080p 144hz in newer games

I think your greatly over estimating what the 1660 and 2060 Super can do.  In the benchmarks I have seen, a RTX 2080 ti can't push 144 fps at ultra settings in Metro Exodus and that is with Ray Tracing off. I mean it comes close,  between 100-130 fps give or take but it can't push 144 fps + which is what you want if your going to take advantage of the full 144Hz refresh.  With Ray Tracing on, the RTX 2080 ti only manages to to hit in the 70-80 fps range.

Edit: (This is assuming you want all the eye candy enabled of course.  Obviously if your willing to drop to Medium or even High quality, lesser cards can do the trick)

try and get a regular 2070 if they can still be found. if not if you have the money get a 2070 super and upgrade to a 3070 when they release. but that is a bit overkill for 1080p high refresh but... its better to have a bit of overkill than needing to tweak settings.
