Hi All,

I recently got an Intel 9560 wifi card for my MSI Z390-A PRO board. It installed fine and is showing in device manager as working properly (as an "Intel Ethernet Connection (7) 1219-V"). However it is not showing as an available adaptor in network connections. When i first installed it Win 10 installed the drivers but marked it as disabled in device manager, when I enabled it windows didnt complain about anything and showed it as a working device. I have also installed the latest drivers available from Intel but still nothing showing in Network Connections.

Any help at this stage would be greatly apprecited!

EDIT: probably skip all of this and read my next reply.

It should not show up as an Ethernet Connection, that is likely why it doesn't show up as an option on your Wireless menu.

Just wondering what it is called in device manager. I don't have that specific card, but my laptop shows this in device manager "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265." I have used several other modern Intel cards and that seems like a pretty standard naming convention for them.

I suggest right-clicking on the device in Device Manager and uninstalling it, check the box to also delete the driver. Once it is done uninstalling (reboot if prompted, otherwise don't), then install the Intel driver again. If the installer complains that you don't have the hardware installed, just right-click on anything else in Device Manager and choose "Scan for hardware changes"

If it still shows up as an Ethernet adapter then you might try using device manager to force it to update to the Intel wireless driver. If that fails, then it sounds like the card might have a bad firmware loaded, might have to contact Intel for support (or if within 30 days just swap the card for another one).

I hope that helps.

After replying I noticed that this is a CNVi card. Your processor supports it, but your motherboard does not appear to. You may need to exchange it for a 9260 (same specs but generic PCIe M.2 card). Or you might consider the newer AX200, so you have WiFi 6 going forward.

Note: CNVi uses WiFi logic built into the CPU, which makes the card use less power, which is nice for laptops, but doesn't matter for a desktop, in fact you probably one the generic card in case you ever move to AMD or need to use the card in an older system.

I made the mistake of buying the 9260 first andthat one doesnot een show up in device manager. the port on the motherboard is marked as CNVi so I dont believe that is the issue here. You are right about connection I listed earlier. upon closer inspectionthis turns out to be the built in ethernet adaptor so it looks like this one is not showing up the same as the 9260.

Interesting, I am honestly not sure then. I am sorry for the very dumb question, but are these the drivers you installed?

Also, make sure you have installed the chipset drivers for your motherboard.

Other than drivers and ensuring the card is compatible with the slot (sounds like it is), I don't know what else to do. Might have to exchange the card.

Might check the BIOS to see if there is an option to enable that slot on the board. It may have an operating mode toggle to switch between CNVi and PCIe, taking a total guess, I have never worked with a board that used a slot like that. My only experience with CNVi is on OEM laptops, which are already setup from the factory. I can at least say that once the hardware is setup correctly, there is no magic that needs to be done in software, it is just a standard driver install.

Also, the 9260 should work on any system, so the fact that you say that card didn't work is a little suspect. I would really dig into the motherboard settings and see if you can find an answer there.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Yes they are the drives I have installed (i downloaded and ran it again just to make sure). I'll take a look at the motherboard settings today and let you know if i find anything in there.

Thanks for your help.
