[GUIDE] The best Beat Saber streaming setup!

Seeing as Linus recently live streamed some Beat Saber on the LTT Twitch channel and having some issues, I thought I would make a post to help him (and other people ) up the quality of the stream. This post is mostly gonna cover the game and mods surrounding it. (This covers update 1.5.0 of the game as that's what is the latest.)

 

Stream setup.

This section covers the settings for the streaming program and what the best settings are for different speced systems.

I'm only going to cover Streamelements OBS in this post (sorry), but most settings also apply to other streaming programs.

 

High-end output settings:

Considering I run a machine with a Ryzen 9 3900X and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti I can afford to turn up the quality of the stream. Therefor this is the settings I recommend (and use myself) for high-end systems(looking at you Linus ) :

Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264

Resolution: 1080p

Framerate: 60 FPS

Bitrate: 6000 Kbps.

This setup hinges on Nvidias wonderful NVENC encoder, so for systems that does not have an Nvidia GPU this next part is for you.

 

Mid-range output settings:

This is the settings I recommend for people that run mid-range machines WITH an Nvidia GPU or for people that run a high-end machine WITHOUT an Nvidia GPU.

Encoder: NVIDIA NVENC H.264/x264

Resolution: 720p

Framerate: 60 FPS

Bitrate: 3000 Kbps.

Next is the part that I'm most excited about: Mods!  

Since the rise of Beat Sabers popularity there has popped numerous communities up around the game and one of those communities are (of course) the modding community.There has been made a number of mods that better the streams quality and I'm gonna cover some of the here.

First of all I recommend that you download the Mod Assistant to make modding the game almost childs play. And if you do have problems you can go to the Beat Saber Modding Group wiki to look for solutions. If all that still doesn't solve the issues you're having I recommend that you join the BSMG discord and go to the pc-mod-support chat to recieve additional support.

Now, let's get on to the mods! Since this post covers Beat Saber update 1.5.0 mod libraries will be different for each update as not all mods survived the transition to the newer updates.

 

Mods you'll need:

CameraPlus:

CameraPlus is a mod that adds extra functinality to the in-game camera. I gives the possibility to have a 3rd person camera among other things. However the best feature of this mod is that makes camera smoothing so much better than the default game does. The FOV is also improved. To change the settings for this mod, launch the game and make sure you're not in a song. The right-click the Beat Saber window and the settings will appear

Note: To make this mod work you have to disable the "Smooth camera" option in the game settings.

 

Enhanced stream chat:

This mod allows you to have a Twitch chat panel inside the game. The panel can be moved and resized to your liking.The only setup required for this mod is to type in your Twitch username in the settings (setup guide in the linked Github).

 

And that's all the mods that are needed! Of course you can install other mods to run along with those I've just talked about, but that's all up to you.
