The backlight on my keyboard stopped working one day and I wasn't sure what the issue was. After a few weeks it bugged me enough that I decided to try to look into the issue online and see if anyone had run into the same issue. I didn't find anything that made sense for my case so I looked on the ASUS website and found a download for my model of laptop called the Keyboard Adjustment Tool. I downloaded the tool and ran it and immediately after it finished running, my keyboard stopped responding to input. I contacted ASUS support and they said that I could send it in to them but it would probably cost me somewhere around 1000 USD. Alternatively, they could send me some diagnostics software that would cost me a couple hundred and couldn't promise that it would even tell me what was wrong. I decided that neither of these options were worth the cost and tried using a Windows restore point but it didn't work. I've been dealing with this issue for probably over a year now and decided to not try to find a fix for it as I've been wanting to build a Desktop anyways but out of genuine curiosity I've wondered what exactly has caused the issue and whether or not it can be fixed.

The laptop is an ASUS ROG STRIX GL502V

Here is a link to the page for it on Newegg where I actually bought it as well for more info on the specs
